Reindex for MacBook
Today, I noticed a recurring issue with Apple Mail—most of the time, searching for keywords didn't return the emails I was looking for. It was really frustrating, especially when I needed to find something quickly.
Eventually, I came across a Q&A online that offered a solution. I followed the instructions by opening Terminal and entering this command:
sudo mdutil -a -i offsudo mdutil -a -i on
These commands turned off and then re-enabled Spotlight indexing for all drives, triggering a full reindex of my Mac’s files, including emails. After the process completed, Mail’s search function started working properly again.
It’s a simple fix, but it made a big difference. I’m glad I found the solution—it’s a reminder of how small technical hiccups can disrupt workflow, and how satisfying it feels to resolve them.
